Abstract
The present invention refers to a method for using a current-steering N-bit D/A converter and to the D/A converter, said converter comprising N binary weighted current sources SIk, k=0, 1, . . . , N−1, connectable to a common output, each current source SIk comprising 2k unit current sources, SIunit, of equal strength connected in parallel, wherein digital input bits bi, i=0, 1, . . . , N−1, bN−1 being the most significant bit (MSB), determine which respective current source, SIk, k=0, 1, . . . , N−1, to be connected to the output. The invention features that, during D/A conversion, the current IN−1, from the largest current source SIN−1 is substituted for a current ĨN−1, where in which expression, Ik being the current from the current source SIk, Iunit being the current from an additional unit current source.
