Abstract

A spray powder which has a particle size of from 6 to 63 &mgr;m and which comprises from 75 to 95 wt % of a ceramic phase made of a WC powder and at least one chromium carbide powder selected from the group consisting of Cr3C2, Cr7C3 and Cr23C6, and from 5 to 25 wt % of a metal phase made of a Ni or Ni-based alloy powder, wherein the mean particle size of primary particles of the WC powder constituting the ceramic phase is from 5 to 20 &mgr;m, and the mean particle size of primary particles of the chromium carbide powder is from 1 to 10 &mgr;m.
