Abstract
An overhead hand-over-hand traversing apparatus, reminiscent of playground monkey bars, is provided. The apparatus has a single longitudinal bar with pivoting hubs at both ends and regularly spaced traversing hand holds, such that as the user traverses the bar, the bar pivots, to a limited degree, to provide fun and exercise while requiring agility. In a preferred embodiment, the traversing hand holds are in the form of generally U-shaped segments attached to the longitudinal bar. The traversing apparatus is supported by cross-bars intersecting the pivoting hubs at each end. The crossbars may then be independently supported such that the apparatus is a free-standing device or the apparatus may be connected such that it spans between two other play platforms and forms a bridge between the platforms or may form the entry to a single platform.
