Abstract

A coating, adhesive or sealant composition curable by Michael reaction comprises (A) a Michael acceptor which is a compound or polymer containing at least two activated olefinic double bonds and (B) a Michael donor which is a compound or polymer containing at least two nucleophilic groups. The double bonds of the Michael acceptor (A) are activated by two adjacent electron-withdrawing groups. Alternatively or additionally, the Michael donor (B) contains &bgr;-ketoamide, enamine carboxylate, enamine amide, pyrazolone, isoxazolone, hydantoin, rhodanine, thio-substituted unsaturated ester, thio-substituted lactone or phosphonite or phosphinite ester groups. More rapid ambient temperature curing is achieved.
