Abstract

A positive electrode for a non-aqueous electrolyte cell containing spinel-type lithium manganese oxide as a main active material, wherein the positive electrode is comprised of a mixture of spinel-type lithium manganese oxide represented by a formula Li1+xMn2−YO4 (provided that the atomic ratio of lithium and manganese is determined to be 0.56≦Li/Mn [=(1+X)/(2−Y)]≦0.62, X is determined to be−0.2≦X≦0.2, and Y is determined to be Y≦1.0) and at least either one of lithium cobalt oxide represented by a formula Li1+ZCoO2 (provided that Z is determined to be−0.5≦Z≦0.5) or lithium nickel oxide represented by a formula Li1+ZNiO2 (provided that Z is determined to be−0.5≦Z ≦0.5), and wherein in the case that the weight of spinel-type manganese oxide is defined as A and that the weight of the lithium cobalt oxide or lithium nickel oxide is defined as B, the amount of lithium cobalt oxide or lithium nickel oxide is determined to be 0.5≦B/(A+B)<0.2.
