An ink comprising:a) an aqueous medium;b) colorant; andc) a compound of Formula (1);M[X]n  (1) wherein:M is a copper, nickel, cobalt or manganese cation;X is a carboxylic acid anion comprising at least four carbon atoms; andn is from 1 to 2 inclusive.
