Abstract

A rotor is disclosed for a super-conducting synchronous machine having: a rotor core; a super-conducting coil extending around at least a portion of the rotor core, the coil having coil side sections on opposite sides of the rotor core; a vacuum housing covering at least one of the coil side sections, and a conductive shield over the vacuum housing and coil side sections.
