Abstract
A process for producing benzyloxyacetaldehyde which comprises oxidizing 2-benzyloxyethanol with hypochlorous acid in the presence of a nitroxy radical having the general formula (I) wherein R represents a hydrogen atom, an acyloxy group, an alkoxyl group or an aralkyloxy group.
