Abstract
A programmable camera uses a fast image sensor such as a CCD and a relatively slower digitizing board. The system includes random pixel digitization capability whereby it is possible to digitize only some, but not all of the pixels output. The other pixels are passed through the system without A/D conversion thereby speeding up the acquisition of the entire frame.
