Abstract
A stent including a network of struts constructed to form a structural member. The struts are configured with undulations having flexible segments that bend to move the structural member from a collapsed or delivery position to an expanded position. A biodegradable material is associated with the flexible segments of the stent struts to change the bending characteristics of the segments and, thus, alter the amount of contraction and expansion exhibited by the stent. The biodegradable material is selected to degrade under certain biological conditions over time so as to vary the resistance to movement effect of the material on the flexible segments of the struts.
