Abstract

Organopolysiloxanes bearing quaternary ammonium groups and containing units of the general formula—[R2—(SiR2—O)b—SiR2—R2—N+R12]n—·nX−  (I′)whereR are identical or different monovalent, SiC-bonded, optionally substituted C1-12 hydrocarbon radicals,R1 are identical or different monovalent, optionally substituted C1-12 hydrocarbon radicals or are a bridging alkylene radical,X is an organic or inorganic anion,R2 is a divalent hydrocarbon radical having at least 4 carbon atoms which contains at least one hydroxyl group and is optionally interrupted by one or more oxygens,b is an integer from 1 to 200 andn is an integer from 1 to 50.and processes for the preparation thereof.
