Abstract

The electrode comprises a) a layer (5) which conducts electricity for the supply or the collection of an electrical current traversing the electrode, and b) a consumable electrochemical interface layer (7). According to the invention, it comprises, in addition, an intermediate layer (6) made of a chemically inert and electrically resistant material. This layer can consist of a dispersion of fine particles of carbon in a polymer binder.Application in the preparation of electrodes with increased electrochemical capacity, for an ionophoresis device for the transdermal administration of drugs or a device for the electrocicatrization of wounds.
