Abstract
Molecularly-mediated and cellular-based &bgr;-adrenergic receptor-dependent biological pacemakers are disclosed. Methods of using these compositions to improve cardiac chrontropic responsiveness by upregulating heart rate and altering cardiac rhythm are also disclosed.
