Abstract

It is disclosed that in ink for ink jet recording, containing at least a water-insoluble coloring matter, water and a resin as main components to form an emulsion, anthraquinone compounds represented by at least the following the formula (1) especially those in which X is an oxygen atom, R1 is represented by the formula (2) and further R8 is —NR12R13, are useful as coloring matters excellent in water resistance and also in light fastness and compatibility with a resin and that ink for ink jet recording using the same and exhibiting excellent performances in light fastness and storage stability, especially as ink of an ink jet recording system, can form a high-quality, unblotted image, a recorded image having also excellent property in water resistance.
