Abstract
The invention concerns a method for operating a cellular radio system having a base station comprising at least one antenna with a wide area beam and at least one antenna with a narrow area beam whereby only a limited number of channels (p) are available on the at least one narrow beam antenna. According to the invention, a number of narrow beam channels are assigned to a number of mobile terminals (t, n, N) according to estimated duty cycle values (&agr;, &bgr;) on the up- and downlink channel for the respective mobile terminals in order to minimise interferences in the cellular system.
