Abstract

A metal foil for a current collector of a secondary battery formed by electrodeposition and has a thickness (T) of 8 to 40 μm, the metal foil satisfying the following formulae:4.9×108≦T×S×Y≦31×1084.5≦ε−(0.0005×T2)≦15where S is a breaking strength (MPa), ε is a tensile elongation (%) and Y is a Young's modulus (MPa).This foil is preferably a nickel foil and is manufactured by softening or annealing the metal foil obtained by electrodeposition. Thereby, a metal foil for a negative electrode of a secondary battery is obtained with an excellent capability of supporting the active material and large electric conductivity.
