Abstract

A process comprising reacting compound GF-I with a reducing agent to form compound GF-II wherein Y is selected from the group consisting of H, benzyl, substituted benzyl, CH2OC1-8 alkyl, CH2OC3-8 cycloalkyl, allyl, tetrahydropyranyl, tetra-hydrofuranyl, substituted tetrahydropyranyl, substituted tetra-hydrofuranyl, Si(C1-4 alkyl)3, and Si(Ph)x(C1-4 alkyl)3-x where x is equal to 1, 2 or 3; and wherein said process is conducted: (a) in the presence of a reducing agent; (b) in the presence of an aprotic solvent; and (c) under reaction conditions; is provided.
