Abstract
A liquid crystal composition containing at least one compound selected from compounds of formula (1) and formula (2) as a first component, at least one compound selected from compounds of formula (3) as a second component, and at least one compound selected from compounds of formula (4) as a third component: wherein R1 is alkyl; R2 is alkyl or alkenyl; Z1 and Z2 are independently a single bond or —(CH2)2—; X1 is hydrogen or fluorine; and Y1 is fluorine or —OCF3. Also provided is a liquid crystal display element containing the composition.
