Abstract

A computer implemented method and control device for regulating a gasoline engine is provided. A control device automatically records a characteristic of Lambda values and loads a test phase during an operation of the gasoline engine having activated transition compensation. It automatically extracts relevant load changes as a function of the determined characteristics, a load change describing a change from a first load to a second load that differs from the first load. Further, the control device automatically implements a classification of the extracted load changes as a function of specifiable classification criteria and assigns at least one Lambda value to each of the load changes. The control device automatically determines a quality value for each of extracted load changes as a function of a deviation of the at least one assigned Lambda value from a specifiable setpoint Lambda value. The control device also automatically weighs the determined quality values with respect to a classification of the assigned load changes.
