Abstract
A selectively expanding spine cage has a minimized diameter in its unexpanded state that is smaller than the diameter of the neuroforamen through which it passes in the distracted spine. The cage conformably engages between vertebral bodies to effectively distract the disc space and rigidly fix the spine. Extendible members with multiple interfitting stages permit a relatively large range of distraction capability in a compact package.
