Abstract
Provided is a system and method for performing location management using a Home Subscriber Server (HSS) in a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service. The system includes a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) terminal unit sending and receiving a SIP call, by which a VoIP telephone can be used, by being connected to a broadband VoIP network, an HSS controller having a Database (DB) storing an ID of a device which the SIP terminal unit initially accesses according to an access network to which the SIP terminal unit is connected in the broadband VoIP network, location information of the SIP terminal unit, which contains a location code and address of the device, and location information of a destination terminal to which the SIP terminal unit desires to connect, and a Call Session Control Function (CSCF) controller connecting the SIP terminal unit and the destination terminal in a VoIP telephone service using the location information stored in the HSS controller in the broadband VoIP network.
