Abstract
A composition and method for forming a hydrophobic coating on a metallic substrate are disclosed. The composition comprises: The composition is applied to the metal surface, the organic solvent and water permitted to evaporate and coalesce to form a substantially continuous film that preferably is in the form of a self-assembled monolayer covalently bonded to the surface of the substrate.
