Abstract
An airway device (10) comprising an airway tube (14) and a laryngeal mask (12). The mask has an inflatable cuff (36) which has a tip (38) for insertion, in use, into a patient's oesophagus. The mask further includes a guide member (42) projecting from the tip of the cuff. The guide member carries an inflatable balloon (60) for blocking the patient's oesophagus during use. The guide member helps to position the mask correctly and reduces the risk of pulmonary aspiration of gastric contents during use.
