Abstract
An electrical connector for making electrical connection to insulated conductors, the connector having a first connector part which has lengthwise extending wire channels for receiving portions of the insulated conductors; insulation displacement contacts for making separate electrical connections to the conductors, when received in the lengthwise extending wire channels, under relative movement between the insulation displacement contacts and the wires, so that the insulation covering the conductors is cut and the insulation displacement contacts make electrical connections to the conductors; transverse wire channels intersecting with said lengthwise extending wire channels and being shaped to receive portions of insulated conductors of another electrical cable from which the outer covering of the cable has been removed; and a second connector part relatively moveable with respect to the first part for effecting said relative movement, wherein the insulation displacement contacts are located at intersections of the transverse wire channels and the lengthwise extending wire channels for electrically connecting conductors seated in the transverse wire channels with respective ones o…
