Abstract
A positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. The positive electrode active material has been manufactured through a mixing step and a heating step. In the mixing step, a mixture is produced by mixing niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5) with lithium hydroxide (LiOH) at a molar ratio of 1:1. In the heating step, the mixture is heated in an atmosphere of air at substantially 800° C. The positive electrode active material having been produced through the mixing process and the heating process causes the plateau potential in a discharge to be approximately 1.0 [V] for lithium. And the nonaqueous electrolyte battery using the positive electrode active material can operate at a voltage of approximately 1.0 [V].
