Abstract

A vacuum cleaner having a housing (12), including a filter element (31) for separating out particles (13) that have been picked up and transported in an air stream (L) as well as a holding device for holding the filter element (31) in the housing (12). The filter element (31) has at least one projecting holding section (34). The holding device (41) has a contact surface and a holding surface between which the holding section (34) of the filter element (31) comes to rest when the filter element is in the installed state. The contact surface and the holding surface are each provided with a defined irregularity.
