Abstract

A transmitter comprises a baseband signal path, which is designed to provide a first baseband signal having an in-phase component and a quadrature component in a first mode of the transmitter and to provide a second baseband signal having an amplitude component and a phase component in a second mode of the transmitter; an oscillator circuit, which is designed to provide an oscillator signal, wherein the oscillator circuit is furthermore designed to provide the oscillator signal as an unmodulated signal in the first mode and to provide the oscillator signal as a modulated signal in the second mode, wherein a modulation of the oscillator signal in the second mode is based on the phase component of the second baseband signal; and a radio-frequency digital-to-analogue converter (RF-DAC), which is designed to receive the oscillator signal, the first baseband signal and the amplitude component of the second baseband signal, wherein the RF-DAC is furthermore designed to provide the vector-modulated RF output signal on the basis of the first baseband signal and the oscillator signal in the first mode and to provide the polar-modulated RF output signal on the basis of the amplitude componen…
