The present invention provides a surfactant composition for emulsion polymerization containing an alkyl ether sulfate represented by formula (1) and a method for producing a polymer emulsion including emulsion polymerization of a monomer in the presence of the surfactant composition for emulsion polymerization:RO—(PO)m(EO)nSO3M (1)
