Abstract
A light source includes a plurality of solid state light emitters arranged in first and second light emitter groups, a printed circuit board for supporting the solid state light emitters, a thermally conductive mounting fixture, and a heat sink. The mounting fixture secures the light emitters and the circuit board to the heat sink. A reflector might also be supported by the mounting fixture. The light emitter within each light emitter group are connected in series, with the first light emitter group connected in parallel to the second light emitter group, but with reverse polarity, such that the light source is configured to be powered directly from an AC source.
