Abstract
The invention relates to a process for the production of high density polyethylene by polymerization of ethylene in the presence of a silylchromate based catalyst and a reducing agent is characterized in that the reducing agent comprises the reaction mixture of an alkyl aluminum compound and/or boron compound and a nitrogen containing compound. The alkyl aluminum compound is an organo aluminum compound having the formula AlR3, in which R is a hydrocarbon radical containing 1-10 carbon atom and the nitrogen containing compound comprises —NH2, —NHR, —NR2, wherein R may be alkyl or a substituted alkyl having from 1 to 40 carbon atoms.
