Abstract
A display can be modified to be activated remotely with optical signals. A laser diode of one frequency can be used for tracking and targeting, with another frequency used to trigger the equivalent of a touch, click, drag, or other conventional input commands. Signal processing correlates trigger signals of specific commands, which can be expanded to include multi-click, multi-touch, gestures, and even custom commands specific to individual users. Modern capacitive touch screens can be upgraded with a transparent film overlay to provide these capabilities, which has never before been possible. Related systems, apparatus, methods, and articles are also described.
