Abstract
The invention relates to new heterocyclic compounds containing a protected C-acetyl group. More particularly, the invention concerns new compounds of the Formula (V) ##STR1## wherein R is a group suitable for the protection of amides; PA0 Z is alkyl; and PA0 Y.sup.1 and Y.sup.2 together form a group suitable for temporary protection of a keto group. The new compounds are valuable intermediates in the synthesis of thienamycin.
