Abstract
An x-ray intensifying screen is disclosed containing magnesium tantalum niobium oxide as a phosphor in an ordered corundum crystalline form. In addition, small amounts of at least one alkali metal other than lithium can be present. Potassium, rubidium and cesium are each capable of increasing luminescence. The x-ray intensifying screens are useful in radiographic applications where it is important to reduce subject exposure to x-rays and also to create clear, sharp images.
