Abstract
The invention relates to .alpha.-ketoamides of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 to R.sup.12 have the significances given in the description, and their salts. The .alpha.-ketoamide derivatives provided by the present invention inhibit proteinases of viral origin, such as HCV protease, and can be used in the treatment of viral infections, especially viral infections caused by hepatitis C, hepatitis G and human GB viruses.
