Abstract

Synthetic processes are provided for the solution phase synthesis of oligonucleotides, especially phosphorothioate oligonucleotides, and intermediate compounds useful in the processes. Intermediates having structure (I) are prepared in accordance with preferred embodiments. ##STR1##
