Abstract

The invention provides NO— or NO−-releasing imidate, thioimidate, and amide diazeniumdiolates, in which the N2O2− functional group is bonded to a carbon atom. The invention also provides compositions comprising such diazeniumdiolate compounds, and methods of using such compounds and compositions. The invention further provides a method of preparing NO— or NO−-releasing imidate, thioimidate, and amide diazeniumdiolates.
