Abstract
A configurable lookup table having a fixed number of entries is used to manage multiple versions of state information. Based on information provided by a program executing on the processor, a number of items of state information to be included in each state version is determined. Based on that determination, a maximum number of state versions to be concurrently maintained in the lookup table is determined. A management scheme to be used to store and update state information in the lookup table is selected; a different scheme can be selected at any time if the number of items per state version changes.
